How Jade works

Jade gathers verifiable, public facts about how sustainably businesses operate into one glanceable space. So it’s easy to make informed buys, find brands worth backing, and point everyday spending at the long goal:

Resilient industries, resources that last, and a healthy place to live.

Free rating you can’t fake

Nobody can buy a better score on Jade. So when a leaf rating is high, it actually means something.

Search sustainability first

A café, a dentist, a contractor, a mechanic… all filtered and ranked by people observing firsthand.

You help shape the score

Every review is invaluable: sharpening the score to help people shop sustainably and businesses improve.

Data straight from the source

Verified certifications, official records, and claims made by the business, all linked to their source, so you can check it yourself.

FAQ

Things you’d want to know before handing over an email.

Can a business pay for a better score?

No, leaves are earned, never bought. A business claiming its page changes nothing about the rating, and nobody can buy scores, rankings, or leaves. Sponsorship, once available, will only soften Jade’s distance-based filtering within a score bracket: a sponsored 4.6 can sit atop its 4.6 peers, never above a 4.7. The only way up is a higher leaf score.

Is Jade free?

Yes, free for people, and free for businesses to claim their page. Nobody can pay for a better score or ranking, which is why the score is meaningful.

When and where can I actually use it?

Jade is iPhone-first and launching Fall 2026 where there’s strong interest. After signing up, you’ll get a link the moment it reaches your area.

What happens with my email?

An invitation when your area opens, and the occasional update. Nothing noisy, and Jade doesn’t sell lists. See the privacy policy for more.

From the founder

Nathan Kayser, Founder of Jade

I’ve spent my career as a creative director, so I know exactly how convincing greenwashing can look. Whenever I try supporting businesses doing less harm, I find marketing everywhere and proof either buried or non‑existent.

Then my family was affected by the Eaton fire in 2025. Like many in my city, we watched the mountains burn as we evacuated in the high winds, not knowing if our home would be there when we returned. That was an inflection point for me.123

Jade’s an app, but it’s also me doing my part with the skills I have: gathering sustainability data that already exists and pairing it with reviews from real people. This waitlist I’m asking you to sign up for isn’t just marketing. It’s how I get to meet my neighbors and fellow business owners so we can get to work. Right here. And right now.
